Happy New Year Everyone!

Hey guys, sorry I have been missing from the blog lately but have no fear this new year I will be trying to blog a lot more then I previously did. New years resolution? Possibly, don’t really care too much about them but for the sake of my blog I will.

I just recently spent New Years Eve at Disneyland, and well I enjoyed the World of Color fireworks show. And well if you are interested here it is…

As for the video stuff I did get the $24 Cheap Shoulder Support found on CheesyCam. So stay tuned for some videos because I have some plans for this bad boy. Just planning on beefing it up and adding some extra support without spending too much money. So be on the lookout for that. Anyways Happy New Years and Happy building! Just build it!

Just updated my videos page, but if you haven’t checked out any of my lastest work, well here it is. Not the best of what I could do but I have been very busy lately so this is going to be the best your going to get until I get my new desktop.

Crazy rigs?

In an effort to film a 24hour Scalleycat, the rig was originally intended to go on a Ruckus, but because of minor difficulties with the ruckus and the weather, we chose to mount my 5dmarkii to a Letus Cage, and onto a Specialized p-fixed frame.

More info and video to come.

1 Year Already?

After a year of riding and supporting our San Jose Fixed Gear community.

Wow. Finally, one year has passed since the shop first opened. A lot of hard work and patience has gone into carving out a lifestyle that reflected our values throughout the years. Thank you for riding along side us and for the many miles to come.

Ride simply. Simply, ride.

My latest video that I shot and edited. Took about 2weeks with 4days of filming. We did it you guys!
Be on the look out for more bike related videos from iMiNUSD and myself. We have some tricks up our sleeves.

Apple App Bicycle Integration via Engadget

Now I find this idea very cool, being a cyclist and all. Now I have been waiting sometime for something like this to happen. Since the introduction of the Nike Shoe + iPod counter for runners, it was a matter of time that they would integrate the needs of cyclists. Now there are currently apps readily available on the iPhone for cyclists like MapMyRide, one of which I currently use to track my distance and route that I do when riding but it lacks the other information that my Knog NERD Computer does.

images from google.

Now having my iPhone do the jobs for both tracking my route and speed, cadence etc., well thats what I am looking for. So hopefully this being in the works, an app and hardware for such an idea should be hitting the market soon. This will make things a lot easier for us cyclist carrying extra stuff just to get this information. Also with the iPhone, if you were to ever get lost GoogleMaps is there to save the day.

VDSLR Viewfinders

First off, I am back, at least my body is, because my mind and internal clock is still in the Philippines. However I did get a couple LCD Viewfinders in while I was gone. So instead of wasting anymore time I had to do a quick initial review on the items. [excuse the mess in my room, i'm still unpacking]

First one is the Meike, MK-VF100, at first glance it is an exact image of the LCDVF. Now there have been statements coming from LCDVF that this is just an imitation and that it is nowhere near original quality of the LCDVF. But I must say, if they are made in china, well anyone can get their hands on it and sell it. So whether you think its not the same product as the LCDVF it works just fine.

The packaging was nice and seemed to be the same as the LCDVF. Even the pictures on the box are stock pictures from LCDVF’s website.

So if you ask me, the Meike and the LCDVF seem to be a similar match. If any part of it is different it may not make that much of a difference. Honestly since I couldn’t tell the difference between the two, the one I would choose is the Meike for $69 shipped. [LCDVF is around $180 + S/H]

For more information on where to buy these while in stock check out CheesyCam.

Another LCD-VF I ordered was a little more expensive but with a larger eye cup. The Capa VF. First impressions was that the viewfinder was nicely manufactured, with felt on the inside unlike the LCDVF or MEIKE, lighter, and the view cup was much larger.

CAPA LCD-VF
Hard to see but here is the felt.

Now neither of the magnets are permanently installed onto the camera yet, so I haven’t fully tested the strength of the two. However I did notice that the Meike’s magnet is stronger and does not come off as easily as the Capa does. Until my removable glass screen protectors come in I will not be able to do a complete full review.

These though will be coming in handy once the arrive.

You can find these screen protectors on eBay by searching GGS III Glass LCD Screen Protector.
