1 Year Already?

After a year of riding and supporting our San Jose Fixed Gear community.

Wow. Finally, one year has passed since the shop first opened. A lot of hard work and patience has gone into carving out a lifestyle that reflected our values throughout the years. Thank you for riding along side us and for the many miles to come.

Ride simply. Simply, ride.

My latest video that I shot and edited. Took about 2weeks with 4days of filming. We did it you guys!
Be on the look out for more bike related videos from iMiNUSD and myself. We have some tricks up our sleeves.

Canon 5D MKII Pop-up Screen Protector

So before I had purchased the GGS screen protector for my 5D, I initially purchased the pop-up screen protector above. Before I had found the GGS I had seen this used over at CheesyCam and had plans to take off the doors and put my LCDVF magnet onto that. Well plans changed as soon as I found the GGS, but had already ordered the pop-up protector.

Now that I have received it, I am planning on keeping it just to use when I am out on the field and do not need the viewfinder. So when it is bright out the pop-up screen will add some shade over the screen as well as some protection from scratching. Probably another good buy for under $20. I was actually able to try it out today in the sun, and it definitely makes a difference in viewing the screen.

So if you got that extra $20 protect your investment and get one of these multi-purpose protectors.

VDSLR Viewfinders

First off, I am back, at least my body is, because my mind and internal clock is still in the Philippines. However I did get a couple LCD Viewfinders in while I was gone. So instead of wasting anymore time I had to do a quick initial review on the items. [excuse the mess in my room, i'm still unpacking]

First one is the Meike, MK-VF100, at first glance it is an exact image of the LCDVF. Now there have been statements coming from LCDVF that this is just an imitation and that it is nowhere near original quality of the LCDVF. But I must say, if they are made in china, well anyone can get their hands on it and sell it. So whether you think its not the same product as the LCDVF it works just fine.

The packaging was nice and seemed to be the same as the LCDVF. Even the pictures on the box are stock pictures from LCDVF’s website.

So if you ask me, the Meike and the LCDVF seem to be a similar match. If any part of it is different it may not make that much of a difference. Honestly since I couldn’t tell the difference between the two, the one I would choose is the Meike for $69 shipped. [LCDVF is around $180 + S/H]

For more information on where to buy these while in stock check out CheesyCam.

Another LCD-VF I ordered was a little more expensive but with a larger eye cup. The Capa VF. First impressions was that the viewfinder was nicely manufactured, with felt on the inside unlike the LCDVF or MEIKE, lighter, and the view cup was much larger.

CAPA LCD-VF
Hard to see but here is the felt.

Now neither of the magnets are permanently installed onto the camera yet, so I haven’t fully tested the strength of the two. However I did notice that the Meike’s magnet is stronger and does not come off as easily as the Capa does. Until my removable glass screen protectors come in I will not be able to do a complete full review.

These though will be coming in handy once the arrive.

You can find these screen protectors on eBay by searching GGS III Glass LCD Screen Protector.

Ordering time.

Well I’ve been here in the Philippines now for about 2 weeks and I’ve done quite a bit of online shopping on eBay for camera gear. So once I get home I’ll have a few packages to go through. Also I hopefully will be bringing home some camera straps that I may be selling so keep checking the blog for more info.

I have a ton of other purchases from other places that will serve for some good DIY projects to come.

GoBoda? GO FOR IT

So like I’ve posted before GoBoda bags seem pretty cool, and what made it even cooler was this deal. Now last week it was supposed to go up until the 17th. I made my order and it came in today. Two and a half business days. Pretty good if you ask me. Now they have extended their sale until supplies last, so if you missed out on it go for it! I was not able to bring both bags home today since I rode to work, but I did get a snapshot of them both before I took it home.

Now, they have extended it for the purpose that they are bringing out a v3 Junior boda bag, but heck the jr you get for free is still pretty good. Looking them over they really are built well, practical for an active photographer, and comfortable. With my v3 Boda I ordered the v3 waist system which is fully adjustable and also practical and comfortable. Now I did try them on with very little weight added so give me a few weeks to do a full test and review on them.

But if you are a photographer or VDSLR videographer, and have an array of lenses hop on this deal so that if you have an event you can use the big v3 boda bag to carry everything possible (3-5 PRO lenses) and small family parties have the boda junior. Or sell one to a friend, but do what you wish I recommend doing this deal. Heck if you end up not liking it sell both and make money.

GoBoda GO FOR IT!!!
